bio
Chloe Lorentzen wrote her first song when she was only 7 years-old sitting on a swing back in her home town of Madras, Oregon. She was the only one who thought there was nothing unusual in that.
Now 18 and living in Stamford in the UK, Chloe has already amassed an impressive catalogue of self-penned songs that touch upon challenging themes with raw, candid lyrics. She was the youngest ever recipient of BBC Music Introducing Track of the Week in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire & Rutland.
She’s played hundreds of times across the country, supporting acts as diverse as James Walsh of Starsailor and Marti Pellow of Wet Wet Wet, Ren Harvieu and Tom Bright. She’s sold out every headline show that she’s ever played, including the launch show of her first EP that she released aged only 12 which went on to raise around £10,000 for War Child UK. Her first full album of original songs, My Time, was released when she was only 14.
Her latest album, Love Life & Lies, is a collection of three EPs. With a typical dark twist, the four songs that make up Love are about heartbreak, the tracks on Life deal with death and loss, and Lies focuses on the untruths we tell ourselves, not those we tell others. It contains 6 BBC Music Introducing Tracks of the Week (so far!) with each song accompanied by a cinematic video shot in or around her adopted home of Stamford.
Chloe is currently recording her third album with acclaimed keyboard player and award-winning producer DC Collard (The The, JoBoxers, Lisa Stansfield, Celine Dion, Alison Moyet), with a working title of Cannot Be Ignored. Hear her breathtaking voice just once, full of darkness and light, and you’ll realise that Cannot Be Ignored is probably understating it.
7-time Grammy winner Brandi Carlile declared to a crowd of thousands when they sang together in Portland Oregon that “Chloe can really, really sing…this is the next Adele”. Chloe disagreed. Adele is blonde and has way better nails.
